Representation of Women


TheMinister of State in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs Shri R.P.N. Singh todayinformed the Lok Sabha that the Government is considering to make it mandatoryto have at least one woman director in the Board of Directors.

Replying to a written question the minister said Clause 149 of the CompaniesBill 2011 provides that such class or classes of companies to be notified fromtime to time shall have at least one woman director.

Replying to another question whether it is also true that the Government isconsidering to increase the representation of women in Indian Companies byeight per cent the Minister said no such increase in percentage is underconsideration
